Vet work is the most abusive scrub environment in healthcare. Cat claws find every weak seam. Anal-gland fluid finds every absorbent fiber. Dog hair finds the dryer cycle and stays. We picked the styles below for vet techs, DVMs, and front-desk staff who need scrubs that survive that reality — not the photoshoot version of it.
What a working vet shift actually does to a scrub
The four enemies, in order of how often we hear about them:
- Cat claws. They find the front torso (where you cradle), the forearm (where you restrain), and the shoulders (where panicked cats latch on). Single-stitch seams fail first. Double-stitched, tight-weave fabric holds.
- Fluid stains. Chlorhexidine and surgery-prep solutions leave brown discoloration that does not wash out. Dark colors are not a preference for surgery techs — they are mandatory.
- Dog fur in the wash. Lives in fabric weaves until wash five, especially in long-pile dryer cycles. Lint-resistant surface treatments help. So does turning the garment inside out before washing.
- Bending and lifting. Lift a 65-pound lab, bend to a cat carrier, restrain a panicked terrier. The fabric has to move with you. Four-way stretch is non-negotiable.

One specific recommendation
The single most-impactful change we have seen in vet clinics is switching from light to dark scrubs in surgery prep and kennel areas. Front-desk and exam-room staff can keep colors for warmth. The visible-wear difference is noticeable inside two months.

Sizing for working bodies
Most styles run XS to 3XL. A dedicated Curvy block (different waist-to-hip ratio, not a standard size scaled up) is in development with the factory for late 2026. Petite (27-28" inseam) and Tall (32-34" inseam) are on the roadmap. Until then, add a note in your order if you need a specific length and we will route through the team-order channel.
