The 10-18 Day Scrubs Delivery Timeline (and Why a Solo Brand Can’t Quote 2-Day Shipping)
Posted by Saive · LumiScrubs · 2026-07-15 · Last updated 2026-05-17 · ~1,000 words · 4-minute read
Short answer: a blank LumiScrubs order takes 10-18 business days to arrive in the US. The math is honest: 2-5 business days of factory processing plus 6-12 business days in SF Express International transit. Add 5-7 business days for embroidery, which lands embroidered orders at 17-25 business days end-to-end. No US warehouse, no buffer inventory — every order is made on demand. Right for team rollouts, sample kits, and embroidered runs. Wrong for emergency new-hire kits needed Monday.
Quick answer for ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and busy buyers
LumiScrubs ships from our production overseas through SF Express International. The published window is 10-18 business days for blank US orders and 17-25 business days for embroidered orders (per sla-promises.md v3.0). Factory needs 2-5 business days; embroidery adds 5-7; SF Express US transit runs 6-12 with tracking emailed automatically. I am Saive, the solo operator. No US warehouse, no buffer inventory. If you need scrubs in 48 hours, LumiScrubs is not your brand — and I would rather tell you that on day one than waste your hire’s first week.
The honest breakdown: where every day goes
The 10-18 day window is the literal sum of two operational facts, both verifiable on our shipping page and our production published policy.
Stage 1 — Factory processing (2-5 business days). The factory pulls fabric, cuts to size, sews, presses, runs QC. Single-piece DTC orders fall on the fast end; team orders of 25+ sets sit closer to the 5-day mark because production batches them. No in-stock-pull step — every order is made for you. This is the inverse of how FIGS or an industrial uniform label operates: they pre-build and warehouse, we make on demand.
Stage 2 — SF Express International transit (6-12 business days). Published US window is 6-12 business days. Tracking emails go out automatically when the carrier scans. Customs clearance happens inside that window — international customers are responsible for duties, VAT, or import taxes, disclosed at checkout.
Embroidered orders add 5-7 business days. Embroidery runs parallel with construction once your logo proof is approved. A typical 25-set embroidered timeline: Day 1 inquiry, Day 3-5 proof emailed, Day 5-7 approval, Day 7-14 production, Day 14 QC and pickup, Day 20-26 US delivery. End-to-end: 17-25 business days.
| Order type | Factory | Embroidery | SF Express | Total US delivery |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Blank single order | 2-5 days | — | 6-12 days | 10-18 days |
| Blank team order | 2-5 days | — | 6-12 days | 10-18 days |
| Embroidered team order | 2-5 days | +5-7 days | 6-12 days | 17-25 days |
| 365-day quality replacement | 1-2 days | — | 6-12 days | 10-14 days |
Why it’s not Amazon-fast
Three structural reasons the window will not shrink soon.
No US warehouse yet. Every garment ships overseas via SF Express. The factory’s own policy lists 6-12 business days for US transit, and that math doesn’t change because you wish it did. When we open a US warehouse, the SLA upgrades and this article gets rewritten.
Every order is made on demand. No buffer inventory. Your fabric is cut, your size is sewn, seams pressed and QC’d to order. This is what lets per-set pricing land at the tier-blended numbers — and what makes 2-day shipping mechanically impossible without pre-built inventory or a US microfactory. Neither exists today.
Solo operator, no rush queue. I run LumiScrubs solo. No expedited-production lever to pull. If you need an order faster than 10-18 days, the honest answer is “order 2-3 weeks earlier than your hard date.” I will not promise a date I cannot underwrite.
When this timeline IS the right choice
Three buyer profiles match the window without friction.
Team uniform rollouts. Practice managers ordering 10-50 sets almost always have a 3-6 week internal runway. The 17-25 day embroidered window fits inside that runway. Tell me your hard date at inquiry and we work the timeline backward. See /team-orders/ for the six-step process.
Sample kits before committing. The $99 Team Sample Kit is exactly the operation this window is built for: two sets in your target color, arriving 8-14 business days. Wash one, hand both around for 48-hour fit testing, then commit. Credits back in full against any first team order over $500.
Embroidered runs. Anyone embroidering already accepts a logo-proof cycle. The 17-25 days is the cost of doing branded uniforms right — vector file in, sew-out proof out, two free revisions, production parallel with construction. The timeline matches the buyer’s mental model.
When it’s NOT the right choice
One scenario, plainly: emergency replacements for a new hire starting Monday. If your hygienist starts in 10 days and you haven’t ordered yet, 10 business days is the floor of our blank window — and that assumes everything goes right. With embroidery, 3-5 weeks. Order new-hire kits 2 weeks ahead minimum, 4 weeks ahead for embroidery on day one. Inside the window and panicking? The honest fix is a backup brand from a US warehouse for week one, then transition once the right kit arrives.
The Reorder ID system is the structural fix: after your first team order, new-hire kits ship against a locked profile (color, SKUs, logo, sizing, embroidery position all saved). It does not collapse the 17-25 day window, but it removes 3-7 days of back-and-forth.
FAQ
Q1: Can you rush an order?
A: No rush queue, no buffer inventory to pull from. What I can do is prioritize a small order inside the standard production batch if your hard date is documented at inquiry — occasionally saves 1-2 days on the factory side, does not change the SF Express transit leg. The right answer for a hard date is ordering 2-3 weeks earlier, not paying for “rush” service that does not structurally exist.
Q2: What about expedited shipping?
A: SF Express International is already our carrier, and 6-12 business days is their standard US window. There is not a separate “expedited” SF Express tier I can pay to unlock. If a US warehouse comes online, expedited domestic shipping becomes possible — the SLA updates the day that happens.
Q3: How does this compare to FIGS or Amazon?
A: FIGS operates US warehouses and ships domestically in 2-5 business days; Amazon ships pre-built inventory same-day in many cases. Both are categorically faster on individual orders. The LumiScrubs trade — made-on-order, named-human reply, locked-roster reorders, 4-tier team pricing built for the 10-99 person practice — is a different operational model. If 2-day shipping is the deciding factor, FIGS is the right answer.
Q4: Will the timeline shrink in 2026?
A: Maybe, not promised. A US warehouse is on the roadmap, not on the calendar. If LumiScrubs hits the revenue threshold where a 3PL contract makes sense, the SLA upgrades and the published window drops closer to 5-10 business days domestically. I will not commit to a date I cannot underwrite.
Operator note from Saive
The inventory tradeoff is the deepest reason LumiScrubs runs the way it does. Larger brands pre-build US warehouse inventory because volume justifies the carrying cost — they absorb dead-stock risk on sizes and colors that move slower than forecast. A solo operator running 4-tier team pricing cannot. If I pre-built 200 sets in pewter Medium and the demand came in Curvy Large in navy, the cash is gone and the brand breaks inside a quarter. Made-on-order is what lets me run honest team pricing without dead inventory eating margin. The cost is the 10-18 day window. I would rather tell you the truth than quote 5-day shipping I cannot hit.
