Med spa is the most retail-adjacent corner of healthcare. The lighting is flattering on purpose. The clients are paying out of pocket. What med spa work asks of a scrub
Three things, in roughly this order:
- Composed under spa lighting. ER-bright colors read like a hospital floor. Soft neutrals and muted jewel tones read like a service business. Navy, royal blue, olive, dusty rose, charcoal are the safer palette.
- Structured but not stiff. A small structured neckline or a clean boxy fit reads more polished than a loose V neck. The fabric still needs to move — aestheticians stand and bend all day.
- Stain handling. Tinted SPF, foundation transfer, lash adhesive, micro-pigment, hair color — spa stains are different from clinical stains. The fabric handles a warm wash with mild detergent; bleach destroys the spandex.
