Scrubs Built for Custom Embroidery

Embroidery-ready scrubs are tops picked specifically for clean logo or credential stitching — stable knit so the thread doesn’t pucker, a structured chest panel that takes a 4-inch logo flat, and no surface print to fight the needle. Add 5-7 business days to the standard 10-18 day US delivery for the embroidery production step.

Why not every scrub takes embroidery well

I get asked all the time why we don’t recommend embroidery on the CarePrint Soft Top — and the answer is that the print pattern fights the stitch direction and the logo looks dirty against the busy background. Same logic for soft-knit tops with very loose weave; they pucker under stitch tension. The tops on this collection are the ones I’d actually let through embroidery production: stable 72/21/7 knit, structured chest panel that holds 4 inches flat, no surface print, no pocket placement in the way of the standard left-chest position. If you want a clinic logo or RDH credentials stitched on, this is the lineup.

Embroidery scrub questions

Which scrub tops take embroidery best?

The Chairside Zip Top, Soft Crew Top, Front Desk Collar Top, Men’s Front Desk Collar Top, and Essential V Top are the LumiScrubs picks for clean embroidery — all stable 72/21/7 knit with a structured chest panel and no surface print to fight the stitch. The CarePrint Soft Top is not on this list because its animal-print pattern interferes with logo readability.

How long does embroidered scrub production take?

Plan 17-25 business days from logo approval to US delivery for embroidered orders. Embroidery adds 5-7 business days to the standard 2-5 day production window (so 7-12 business days in-factory), then SF Express International is 6-12 business days fully tracked. Embroidered orders cannot be expedited beyond this without compromising the sew-out proof step.

What does embroidery cost on scrubs?

Two costs. A one-time digitizing fee (industry $45-95; LumiScrubs waives this on team orders of 8 sets or more), and a per-piece embroidery fee of $5-8 depending on stitch count. A solo professional ordering one embroidered top with a new logo would pay digitizing + $6-8 per piece. A 12-set team order with one logo pays only the per-piece fee.

What file format do you need for embroidery?

Vector formats are best — AI, EPS, or vector PDF. We can work from high-resolution PNG (300 DPI minimum) if vector isn’t available, but text under 1/4 inch tall and lines thinner than 1/16 inch will not embroider cleanly regardless of source quality. If you only have a JPEG screenshot from your practice website, send it anyway — we’ll tell you what’s possible and recommend vector recreation if needed.

Can I see an embroidery proof before the full order ships?

Yes. After digitizing, we sew a single embroidered patch on the actual scrub fabric and photograph it under daylight. You approve via email within 48 hours. Production does not start on the batch until you approve. If you reject the proof we adjust and re-proof at no extra charge.

Sizing across the embroidery-ready picks

Standard sizing runs XS-3XL on women’s tops (Chairside Zip, Soft Crew, Front Desk Collar, Essential V) and S-2XL on the Men’s Front Desk Collar Top. Embroidery placement and bounding box stay consistent across sizes — the logo doesn’t grow or shrink with the top, so a small embroidered logo reads consistently from XS to 3XL. Full sizing at the size guide.

Care

Wash embroidered scrubs cold inside-out on a gentle cycle, tumble dry low, no bleach or fabric softener. Inside-out wash protects the stitching from drum friction. The 365-day quality guarantee covers seam splits, severe pilling, major color fade, and hardware — and yes, that includes embroidery defects (loose threads, mis-stitched characters, or fade in the thread itself within the year).

I only put tops on this list that I’d let through my own production queue. The sew-out proof step exists because I’ve seen logos that looked great in vector and looked terrible stitched at 4 inches — sending you a photo before the batch is non-negotiable. Email support@lumiscrubs.com with your logo and I’ll tell you the same day what’ll work. — Saive
