Buying the wrong size rattan is the most common mistake in DIY repair. Too wide, and it won’t fit the weave. Too narrow, and it looks messy. Here is how to get it right.

The Millimeter Rule

Don’t use inches. Use millimeters. Outdoor furniture wicker typically comes in 6mm, 8mm, or 10mm widths. Take a ruler or a caliper to an undamaged section of your chair.

Flat vs. Round

Check the profile. Is your strand completely flat, or does it look like a half-moon? You must match the profile to ensure the new strands lock into the existing weave structure.

The Color Check

Take a photo of your furniture in the shade, not direct sunlight. This gives you the truest representation of the color when comparing it to our gradient repair kits.

💡 The Bottom Line

Measure twice, order once. Getting the specs right makes the weaving process twice as fast.
